This Tefillin to me is a big step into commitment and action to being more Jewish. Because I am a Baal teshuva, I thought that I could become more observant simply by just reading more. my rabbi told me that “ learning is a very poor substitute for experience.” I can learn all that I want, but faith without work is dead. When I put on Tefillin, I act my way into and experience a deeper relationship with Hashem and the Jewish people as a whole.
